Importance Of Fall Trimming And Pruning

10/23/2019

Regular property maintenance around your home is an important task to perform each year. The exterior structure of your house depends on how you properly take care of the surrounding area. The roof over your home could be damaged from a fallen tree or heavy limbs falling onto it.

Tree trimming should automatically be done regularly. Disease and age of trees can make them more susceptible to rot. Sometimes, tree trimming isn’t enough. The entire tree has to be removed to keep it from falling over onto the home.

The cost of property maintenance performed annually is low compared to neglecting it over time. Trees can become dangerous to everyone and everything around them over the years. Think about having to remove several old trees from your property at one time.

This could cost thousands of dollars, which could be avoided with yearly trimming. The trees could have remained healthy, offering shade and natural beauty to the property.

Climbing plants growing against the side of homes can take over. They can cause the siding to become unattached from the exterior frame. This can cost money for vine removal. Consider the cost of having the siding repaired. Vines growing on the sides of a home can make it lose curb appeal. Nothing is attractive about a home with overgrowth taking over.

Property Maintenance Helps Control Insects And Disease

Controlling pests is another important reason for shrub trimming and pruning during the cooler weather. Insects like to build their nest around overgrowth. Maintaining beautiful grounds surrounding the house will lessen the need for toxic chemicals to be sprayed to eliminate these pests. This is a better environment for children and pets.

Nothing looks better than a row of evergreen bushes growing in a row around the sides of a home. Shaping them by shrub trimming makes them beautiful. They maintain a healthy appearance with a beautiful dark green color. Trimming them helps stop disease while keeping them vibrant.

Trimming and pruning encourage new plant growth. It allows the plants more room to thrive. It removes old growth that could kill the plant. Trees are pruned to stop disease and pest. Pruning large trees is a job for professionals who have the experience required to do it safely. Homeowners can be severely injured by not knowing how to do it.

Don't Pull the Weeds this Winter!

9/30/2019

As the cooler weather rolls in, gardeners and farmers are looking at different lawn care solutions to boost their soil health. Letting the soil health deteriorate over those harsh, cold winter months can be detrimental come spring! Boise lawn care is of utmost importance if one is looking to keep their soil as healthy as possible! Here are some tips to get started on the right foot! Try one or try them all and see just how healthy the soil is in the spring!

One of the best way to start this lawn care process and boost the health of one's soil is the use of cover crops. These crops are un-harvested and planted at the end of the growing season. The roots of cover crops provide an ideal habitat as well as feed underground organisms. Just like lawn fertilization, cover crops are able to be planted anywhere from the backyard garden to a one hundred acre farm.

Another way to boost the health of soil is to use different methods of winter mulch. While out taking care of that fall Boise lawn care, take those leaves and spread them over the soil that is needing protection this winter. If leaves aren't available or preferred, another easy and great method is to spread wood chips. Wood chips have been used more often recently and the results show just how great of an option they are!

While all summer is spent pulling weeds, this is another option to protect soil health this winter! Winter weeds are different than the aggressive summer weeds that are so detested. While there aren't crops for the weeds to smother and winter weeds typically form a foliage that protects the soil, winter weeds can be a great option. In addition to the protection, weeds like dandelions also tend to stick their roots deep down into the soil which then in turn will help to improve drainage during the winter months. Don't pull those weeds this winter! After all those hard days out pulling weeds all summer, let the weeds work for you during the winter months!

Another great option is to fill garden beds with compost and covering them with an old blanket if they will be sitting unused until spring time. The blanket, which is essentially a cloth cover, will control the amount of moisture that will reach the compost and the soil. It also will act as a cushion during hard rainfalls.

Just like lawn fertilization is important during the spring and summer months, protection of the soil is just as important in the fall and winter months. This will help to make sure that the soil is ready to be used come spring and will be a perfect home for those crops and plants that are just waiting to be planted! While it may seem cumbersome and pointless to cover soil during the winter, or to prepare soil for the harsh temperatures and snowfalls, it is essential to the health of the soil.

When Should I Aerate My Lawn?

8/30/2019

What Is Aerating?
The term aerate can be used to describe any type of situation where oxygen is introduced to something. With that being said, the key to making sure that your lawn is being Aerated correctly is to always keep this concept in mind so that the proper amounts of oxygen and nutrients can be introduced to your grass so that you experience the proper amount of results. This midset towards lawn care will help to improve soil health and appearance. Please keep reading to learn more about how, when, and why we include aerating practices in our lawn care routine.

What Does It Mean To Aerate The Lawn?
As it was explained before, aerating your lawn will not only help your grass obsorb oxygen more but it will also give your lawn a more attractive appearance. Using a mechanical aerator, you can really give your yard an effective aerating experience that lifts plugs, depatches, and creates a more uniform effect. This will in time help the grass have a greener shade becasue it is richer in oxygen. The roots will also grow deeper and contribute to the better appearance. Be careful not to over aerate your lawn because it can cause damage. Aerating your lawn too often can even stunt growth.

When Should I Aerate?
This answer depends on the type of maintenance schedule you desire to give to your lawn. Lots of people who prefer to do more maintenance stick to a schedule that requires their lawn to be aerated twice in the beginning of the year and twice at the end of the year. Some people prefer to stick to a low lawn care maintenance schedule that requires them to perform aerating tasks sometime within the months of October and December. This time period may be different for your lawn depending on the weather habits within' your location. Aerating tends to be more effective when there is lots of moisture that is available to the grass.

What Results Should I Expect?
If you stay true to your lawn aeration schedule and then your lawn will thrive. Aerating can give your lawn a wonderful color that brings about a polished and full effect to your overall lawn. This means that patches, different species of grass, and other pet peeves will have a harder time manifesting themselves onto your lawn. This can also cause you to work harder by having to aerate with greater force because of packed soil and resistance.

Are There Exceptions?
There are times that you my need to refer to lawn aeration that is not according to the schedule for soil health. Whenever there are times that you have had lots of activity or traffic occuring on your lawn you may need to aerate. This is because the soil can become more compacted and deter the flow of oxygen and nutrients.

We hope that these tips of when and why you aerate property brings ease and assurance to your lawn maintenance journey!
